Sometimes it hits me like a ton of bricks, this life I have been given. A fleeting moment when I catch my breath and realize that I am responsible for keeping these young people alive; for feeding them, clothing them; for loving and nurturing them. I am responsible for teaching them and helping them grow; for instilling confidence and independence. I am in charge of making sure they have all that they need to become mature, responsible, contributing members of society. It is in those moments that I realize that I’m a grown-up. Through and through. I’m the mom.

Inspired by WordPress Daily Writing Prompt: When was the first time you really felt like a grown up (if ever)?

Yup. Motherhood did it to me too!
Thanks for reading. I enjoyed your post today too!
Thanks! I managed to whip it out while my students were at Spanish today.
Ha! Daily writing prompts are tough! I love doing them. This one I composed in my head all day!
Hey keep your ton of bricks to yourself! No need to throw at the rest of us and share the overwhelmedness!
Hey friend. I never feel like a grown-up with you. I just wonder who let 7 strange children in my house. Hehehe.
Yah so true. Inside I feel like a kid but seeing my daughter grow up in front of my eyes makes me realize I cannot always be a kid especially now. But I still have fun with life but in a more responsible way. Always thinking of my girl first. Loved the post
Our CO2 detector was beeping and a full out firetruck with lights on parked in front of my house…As I waddled my preggo self to greet the firefighters it totally hit me – this is MY house and I am the grown up. (thankfully it was just an over sensitive detector)….Now that we have a 2nd floor, something about turning the landing often gives me a strange “whoa, this is MY house and I am raising my family here” feeling.
Weird how it suddenly washes over you, right?
